How it works – E-mail or call me with your questions. I can give approximate quotes, yardage; and answer most questions to begin with. If needed or preferred, an appointment can be arranged to look at and measure furniture. At this point, the customer can purchase your own fabric from the many local fabric and textile shops around Atlanta ( again, I can assist if preferred). Then I will come to your home and cut a large or heavy piece of furniture on sight. I can pick-up smaller pieces. I sew the slipcovers in my home shop and return to install and show you the best way to put the slipcover on and adjust them. The base piece of furniture receives it’s own cover, with a back zipper if needed. Each cushion is covered separately and has a zipper closure. I furnish piping cord in matching or contrast fabric, zippers, and any needed accessories. Basic pricing is figured on the size of the base piece of furniture, the number of seat and back cushions, and whether there is to be a skirt. Extra charges are added for ruffling, covered buttons, corset ties and zipper flaps for sleeper sofas, and other unusual features. Laundering recommendations - If future laundering is desired, the fabric must be pre-washed. The customer can do this, or I can at a basic charge. Wash in cold or warm water on gentle cycle, dry on permanent press cycle of dryer. Most machines will only accommodate a 5-6 yard piece of fabric. Most fabric stores will cut to size if asked. Washable fabrics are cotton and cotton blends, polyester blends and some linen and linen blends. It is best to purchase a half-yard piece and pre-wash it before purchasing the full yardage. |
